A few of the awe-inspiring pieces
Taking place in a glass hut, slightly resembling a green house, the location, show and collection all went hand in hand. At first glance, your eyes were treated with beautifully coloured illustrations featuring insects and flowers, perfectly fitting “The Birds and the Bees” theme. Instantly, it was made clear that the countryside and springtime has a strong influence on all designs, along with the set. Eagerly, we all began taking our seats, along with the oh-so-fabulous Kate Moss and Cara Delevinge who graced the front row, joined by Peruvian fashion photographer and bezzie-friend, Mario Testino.
Opening the show, Brighton-based British musician and complete heartthrob James Bay sung his track ‘When We Were On Fire’, whilst the first of the models made their way down the colourful runway. But what about the clothes? The usual creative Bailey buzz was reined in to the luxury bracket with sharp coats, immaculate cuts and severe colour blocking. Although this was a summer collection, it felt distinctively autumnal in places with the colour palette ranging from wild yet consistent plums and bottle greens, to navys and dusky pinks, which were perfect for the slight chill of the early springtime. Free-flowing dresses which mirrored the delicate fluttering of leaves as they float along in the breeze were paired with vividly coloured trainers which gave the collection a classy yet uber-cool look. Elements of denim, tulle and feathers surrounded the collection, which worked wonderfully and impressed the crowd. The classic Burberry trench coat sported by the beautiful Suki Waterhouse (the new face of Burberry) made its hotly anticipated appearance onto the catwalk, this season in a bold pink and red pattern. Makeup-wise think softly bronzed, honey skin with an iridescent glow, paired with a ruby-red lip. The models looked fresh and bright which perfectly complimented the theme of the show. Hair was parted in an off-centre parting and hung in effortless, laid back, natural waves and nails were painted teal and turquoise which brought the collection together. Overall, it was obvious the Burberry was going to live up, if not exceed all expectations as per usual. Watch the show here, you wouldn't want to miss it!
So that's it for another season and Burberry... you have nailed it once again.
What was your favourite Burberry SS15 look?
